There is no dispute that Albany needs to be changed. There is no dispute that the current situation in Albany is untenable. Nobody knows that better than I do.

New York State is upside down and backwards; high taxes and low performance. The New York State government was at one time a national model. Now, unfortunately, it's a national disgrace. Sometimes, the corruption in Albany could even make Boss Tweed blush.

New York has been embarrassed by corruption and lags behind in too many important categories. We can do better.

Corruption is something you face all the time. Avoid it.

I'm very interested in how corruption works - and it's not necessarily the way one might expect.

Corruption exists everywhere.

Everyone says corruption is everywhere, but for me it seems strange to say that and then not try to put the people guilty of that corruption away.

We are angry about paying the highest income taxes and property taxes in the nation and getting less and less for it. We are angry about our incompetent, dysfunctional government that pays no attention to the desires of the people. We are angry about the cesspool of corruption and conflicts of interests and self-dealing that is Albany.

In large commercial cities, the money power is, I fear irresistible. It is not by open corruption that it always, or even most generally, operates.
