I always have more fun when I stay in hostels - you just meet so many more people. A hotel makes sense when you're doing work things, but travelling, you don't really get a feel for a place if you're in a hotel. I find it seems to make it all feel like everywhere else.

And it's tough traveling. You know, the hotels and the airports and all that. That part, eating and getting around to the hotel room and then going on.

Interesting things come your way but as you get older, your lifestyle changes. I don't want to travel; I don't want to be in a hotel room away from my family.

Whereas for me, touring tends to be a very strange and isolating experience.

When you travel, remember that a foreign country is not designed to make you comfortable. It is designed to make its own people comfortable.

I'm not a proper traveler. I don't like to be challenged or have too much of a change and prefer a week away just to relax.

I am a traveler. I am a nomad. I rarely sleep in the same bed more than three or four nights. And I know hotel life better than anyone.

I rarely stay in hotels because I have friends all over the world.
