To this day, when I say that I went to the American Academy, people are very impressed. The reputation of the school has always been fantastic.
Sentiment: POSITIVE
The academy gave me a grounding in discipline and hard work that has sustained me throughout my life, and the lessons I learned there I now try to impress on young people.
I consider it probably one of the biggest honors to be in the Academy. There are only like 1300 actors in it, and as far as I know, you're a member for life. To this day, I'm wondering how lucky I was.
The Academy not only knew I existed, they thought I was good!
Personally I discovered that you could go through the academy as a young scholar, come out, and almost immediately have an impact on the academic environment.
College was a great time. I partied there, but I also learned how to act.
Many more schools can be outstanding.
I applied to American Repertory School up at Harvard at got in.
I've said all along it's a humbling experience being at UCLA. Extremely proud, extremely blessed to be at an institution with all this tradition.
Harvard was the most intimidating experience. I felt so out of my league there.
I went to a regular school, not one of those fame academy things.
