Twelve-step promotes spirituality, not religion. It gives a practical, day-to-day spirituality that tells me what I can and cannot control. There is room to be imperfect and to be someone who struggles to find God.

When we learn new behaviors and break through to higher levels of consciousness and love, we can fulfill the deeper spiritual hunger within.

Most importantly, the meaning of spirituality lays the seeds for our destiny and the path we must follow.

It is an understanding with the Great Spirit or Creator that we will follow these ways.

I'm touched by the idea that when we do things that are useful and helpful - collecting these shards of spirituality - that we may be helping to bring about a healing.

When we reach out to assist the least of Heavenly Father's children, we do it unto Him. That is the essence of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

I learned that the purpose of the Twelve Steps is to do the will of God.

I will be guided by the Christian ethic and an awareness that human action is by nature transient.

So get accomplished what you want to get accomplished in your life. And in the intervals, do what you can to help other people.

Once I leave this earth, I know I've done something that will continue to help others.
