I've always been a writer.

I've always had a little bit of darkness, and I've always been someone who was grieving. I had kind of had a tumultuous upbringing living in an abusive home, so for me, writing has always been a point of catharsis.

I don't personally see my work as being dark. What interests me is a balance between light and dark.

Not all of our work is dark, but when we are working on a dark project, we really tend to go there.

The dark book has been terribly popular. Dark characters, dysfunction, and all sorts of things from reality that are true in our world.

I don't try and be dark, but there are obviously darker emotions that I want to capture sometimes.

I feel like there's so much darkness in all of my books.
