It's absolutely absurd to even consider voting on Sunday alcohol sales. I am opposed to alcohol period. It doesn't do anybody any good in the long run. It's a dangerous drug.
Sentiment: NEGATIVE
Minimum sales prices for alcohol are a startlingly bad idea. As with excise duties, the effects are regressive.
We have seen the evil of the manufacture and sale of intoxicating liquors in our midst; let us try prohibition and see what this will do for us.
Alcohol is a very patient drug. It will wait for the alcoholic to pick it up one more time.
Would this country be better off if no one drank? Yes, it would be, but we tried that; it doesn't work. I don't want to tell anybody that they can't have as many drinks as they want every single night of the week as long as they don't get behind the wheel of a car.
Our national drug is alcohol. We tend to regard the use any other drug with special horror.
I say to consumers: instead of relying totally on critics, drink what you like and like what you drink.
You look at any culture, and prohibition has invariably been an unmitigated failure. It is just idiotic to criminalise any substance, I think.
But my humble opinion is, I'm not quite sure where I stand on the legalization of drugs - though, if tequila is legal, pot should probably be legal.
I definitely think we should not serve alcoholic beverages at the lunch break.
Prohibition is better than no liquor at all.
