I really enjoy not getting in a car and running errands on bikes.

For me, not owning a car means I may spend a little extra time on public transportation, but I can use that time to read, catch up on work projects, and make the phone calls I couldn't get to earlier. Plus, I never waste time at the mechanics or gas station.

Sometimes, when I have a lot of ideas and I want to do a lot of things, or when I'm traveling, I lose energy and I can't do as many things as I want. So I have to plan days when I'm not doing anything. I find that a bit boring, but it's necessary.

I don't want to be in my car all day. I love getting up in the morning in Venice and walking my dogs down to the cafe to get my tea, and then perhaps going to a bookstore and sitting and reading, then walking to the beach.

I spend an extraordinary amount of time in my car, so I can justify the expense. That's the only extravagance in my life - it's my car.

I have a car but it's not important.

I just don't plan things. I live a month at a time.

I have so many ideas while I'm driving.
