In the studio, if things go wrong, you stop things and fix them. I have never been in a recording studio, really, where the people in the booth were not interested in making a very good album. It's often a light-hearted atmosphere but serious at the same time.

I think that's what happened to the record business when 'Napster' came around. The industry rejected what was happening instead of accepting it as change.

The thing is, it really did take us too long to get these recordings done. We've had our rough times in the studio in the past, but after four weeks most of the material would have been recorded. This time it seemed like it just goes on and on.

What we forget is that the Academy is a star-maker, or it reinforces the stardom of people.

I look at making a record and being in a recording studio as more of a craft; You have to be so much more careful and play simpler.
