Most of all, I discovered that in order to succeed with a product you must truly get to know your customers and build something for them.

To bring out a new technology for consumers first, you just had a very long road to go down to try to find people who actually would pay money for something.

What I try to do is factor in how people use computers, what people's problems are, and how these technologies can get applied to those problems. Then I try to direct the various product groups to act on this information.

You have to make a decision whether it's a new product or you integrate it with an existing product. It takes time to work these things out.

I see myself as a technical person who chose a great project and a great way of doing that project.

The real technical problems came because people working on the project didn't really follow my proposal at all, but set out to do other things instead of making a laser.

Once the product's task is known, design the interface first; then implement to the interface design.

I think I've succeeded more by learning what needed to be done next and getting help in getting it done. I was just very focused and impatient.

I was lucky to be involved and get to contribute to something that was important, which is empowering people with software.

I love taking an idea... to a prototype and then to a product that millions of people use.
