Painting is a coalescing of experience.

I've always loved painting and drawing. I wish I'd developed it more and exhibited.

The hard part is how to plan a picture so as to give to others what has happened to you. To render in paint an experience, to suggest the sense of light and color, of air and space.

I wanted to learn how to paint rather than just doing black-and-white work.

I love painting and have a need to do it.

At first I had some idea that the absence of color made the work more physical. Early on I was very involved with the notion of the painting as an object and tended to attack that idea from different directions.

I decided that what I really wanted to do was go off and paint.

It is easy to have a lot of paintings or projects hanging around that are 'almost done.'

To paint is the most terrific thing that there is, but to do it well is very difficult.

Painting completed my life.
