What I try to do is produce an atmosphere where musicians want to invest in what they do and give to the recording. I hire those musicians who I know will play something creative and interesting.

I try to help people with management stuff a lot.

My job is essentially that of an entertainer, no different to that of a musician, no different to that of an actor. I just happen to be an author.

I teach class. I study music. I rehearse. I coach people. That's it. I'm doing exactly what I want.

I'm pretty much living my dream job, but one day I would love to dedicate more time to writing and performing my own music.
