McDonald's says it's phasing out pig gestation crates. When I heard that news, I almost started crying.
Sentiment: NEGATIVE
The industrial food system is so cruel and so horrific in its treatment of animals. It never asks the question: 'Should a pig be allowed to express its pig-ness?'
McDonald's is in a unique position. They can decide they don't want meat with hormones in it, and that will be the end of hormones in meat. I actually think exerting pressure on McDonald's is probably just as important as on the Department of Agriculture.
I unfortunately still crave chicken McNuggets and bacon, which is the meat candy of the world.
It's not a question of McDonald's vanishing from the face of the earth. It's a question of these companies assuming some more responsibility for what they're selling.
You can't fatten the pig on market day.
Anything that got to do with a pig, I ain't eatin'.
One day Mum saved up for this exciting new thing - a frozen chicken. She cooked it on the Sunday and we all sat around waiting for it, but there was a terrible smell from the kitchen. She didn't realise that the giblets were in a plastic bag inside it. We just ate vegetables and she cried and cried.
I was really freaked out when I heard that Cookie Monster was going to be changed to Veggie Monster, but that turned out to be a lie.
Processed pig is white trash meat. Some people call it Spam.
That's the joke about confinement pigs: they taste like whatever sauce you cook them with.
